Paper label material

Why choose paper labels?

Paper labels are often used for industrial applications, because they are inexpensive and easy to use with a thermal transfer printer. A fitting solution for temporary identification or for labelling products and property in work environments that pose no specific challenges to the label materail. Paper labels can also be used as tamper-evident labels. When the material is removed, it disintegrates, making it easy to see someone attempted to remove the label.

Characteristics of paper labels

Paper labels are more cost-effective compared to other materials such as polyester and polypropylene. The material adheres well roughened and curved surfaces, refrigerated products, plastic wrap film, cardboard, wood and plastic. Paper is also the material of choice for warning labels or food labelling, because the material complies with the following regulations: European food regulation 1935/2004/EC, German Recommendation (BfR) XIV and FDA 175.105. In addition, many warehouse and distribution centres use paper labels for printing LPN, handling unit (HU) or URN barcode labels.

Warehouse operators often combine a paper label, for instance an LPN barcode label, with our “place label here” label, also known as “placard holder” or “label adapter”. The place label here label ensures the paper label with its permanent adhesive will not leave any residue behind when it is removed from the surface, as is demonstrated in our short video.

The paper labels you purchase from ONE2ID come with a permanent adhesive and a semi-gloss or matte topcoat. You can use these labels in operating temperatures ranging from -40ºC up to +70ºC. We recommend using paper labels indoors seeing as the material is not waterproof and has a low resistance to chemicals, oils and UV-light. When used outdoors, the lifespan is around 6 months, depending on the application, the placement and the working conditions.

Alternative to paper labels

If you are looking for an alternative to paper labels, our polypropylene labels may be a viable option. Our polypropylene labels can be used in operating temperatures ranging from -20ºC up to +80ºC. We can supply these types of labels with both a permanent and a non-permant adhesive. If you need a label material with strong waterproof, heat-resistant and chemical-resistant properties, we recommend polyester labels. In addition, polyester has a longer lifespan and can also be used outdoors.
